“Delirious disco with a plaintive, deeply English feel” - Clash
“lyrically subversive yet audibly untouchable” - So Young Magazine
“...as if LCD-Soundsystem were swallowed by a fragmented time-vortex…then reformulated in a parallel universe of boogie-centric reckoning.” - DIY
“disco-funk pandemonia.” - Hard of Hearing
Following news that London’s Fake Turins will be officially disbanded after one final landmark show at Village Underground on 8th June, the 11-piece commence their last hurrah with absorbing new voyage “Yr Made of Gold”. Unfurling a suspenseful yet sensuous funk-noir, it’s another immersive offering of the psychedelically-fragranced disco utopias which the band have been steadily crafting since their formation in 2018.
With a recent CV that boasts notable festival appearances at Left of the Dial, Manchester Psych Fest, Live At Leeds, Mutations and Rockaway Beach - as well as prior London sell-outs at the Lexington and Electrowerks - Fake Turins have also gained support from indie tastemakers such as DIY, So Young, Clash, Hard of Hearing, Fred Perry Subculture and Clunk. This is in addition to radio plays from the likes of Steve Lamacq (BBC 6Music), Gemma Bradley (BBC Radio 1), John Kennedy (Radio X) and Amazing Radio on both sides of the Atlantic.
Produced and mixed by Syd Kemp (Sinead O’Brien, Spiritualized, Vanishing Twin), “Yr Made of Gold” also provides the first glimpse of the band’s upcoming ‘Inheritance’ EP, set for release on 9th May via Opus Kink-founded label Hideous Mink Records. Speaking about the track, vocalist Dominic Rose plaintively notes: "It’s a song about the passing of time, watching ourselves become the heroes/villains we looked up to as children. Mutating into our parents & facing their struggles. This song was written from the anger of my father & how my inheritance of his rage became my own.”
Fake Turins are Amy Wilson (Clarinet), Jonny Dickens (Guitar), George Traylen (Drums) Nathaniel Knowles (Bass), Rosie Wilson (Saxophone), Scott Custis (Guitar), Dominic Rose (Vocals), Harry Wrigley (Synth), Mars Washington (Guitar), Mark (Noise / FX) and Jess Bernardo (Percussion)
