“Tear our words away and what are we left with? ‘Built to Touch’ is the dissonance in the wake of development.”
New single and headline tour
On October 27th North London 11-piece audiovisual unit Fake Turins will share new single ‘Built To Touch’ via Hideous Mink Records, an atmospheric and textured art-rock gem cloaked in the fragility of personal development through the lens of a collapsing society.
The track echoes the push and pull of societal change, tension followed by an inevitable release - played out in this case through the sorrowful vocal passages of the verses and the sheer elation of the clarinet and saxophone hooks in the chorus.
The release coincides with the band’s first headline tour of the UK this November, following a host of festival slots in the last year at Left Of The Dial, Stag & Dagger, Klomppop, Float Along, Manchester Psych Fest, Live At Leeds with Mutations and Rockaway Beach to follow in the coming months. 2022 saw the band tour with labelmates Opus Kink as well as sell out their own 350 cap London headline show at Electrowerkz.
Press
Fake Turins have been tipped across the board by press, summed up by So Young Magazine as, “lyrically subversive yet audibly untouchable”, with DIY noting their "cyclical, propulsive dance floor groove”, and by CLASH as, "a truly multi-faceted piece of music [that] feels like the entry point into Fake Turins' extraordinary world." Radio support from Steve Lamacq (BBC 6Music), Gemma Bradley (BBC Radio 1), John Kennedy (Radio X) and Amazing Radio on both sides of the Atlantic has seen the band’s stock rise.

On ‘Built To Touch’, vocalist Dominic Rose notes:
“Tear our words away and what are we left with? ‘Built to Touch’ is the dissonance in the wake of development - drawing parallels in the modernist plight to reify the spectre of humanity. Referencing the short story “The Hollow Men” by T.S Eliot, ‘Built To Touch’ explores the loneliness of big ideas, especially amongst the violent and fractured dogmas connecting post-war trauma to our own. After all the thinking is done, are we really just built to touch?"
