“Magnificent” The Sunday Times
“Horn-fuelled filth-funk, where punk & jazz combine in grimy circumstances” NME
“Opus Kink have crafted a world for themselves which seems theirs alone to conquer” So Young
“A frenetic groove-filled glimpse of what’s to come” DIY
“One of the UK’s most exciting new bands” Clash
“Always at the peril of derailing but somehow still in control – the adrenaline rush that comes from both situations is addictive" Dork
Brighton indie specialists Opus Kink release brand new single 'I Wanna Live With You', out today (May 7th) via Hideous Mink Records (Alien Chicks, Fake Turins, Black Bordello) & SO Recordings (Enter Shikari, Deadletter, Big Special), following last night’s BBC 6 Music premiere with Steve Lamacq.
Marking their first release of 2024, the band’s raucous offering also arrives alongside news of their biggest headline show to date at London’s iconic Electric Ballroom on 11th December, preceded by a host of festival appearances throughout the UK and Europe in the coming months.
Armed with their ever-mutating brand of jazz-and-country-laced punk, the enigmatic sextet have already draw enormous acclaim across the press landscape (The Sunday Times, The Independent, NME, DIY, So Young, Dork, Clash, Under The Radar) following the release of debut EP ’Til The Stream Runs Dry’, and its tantalising 2023 follow-up ‘My Eyes, Brother!’, whilst on the airwaves, the band have notched up two appearances on the BBC 6 Music playlist (Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne) and countless BBC 1 Radio spins (Jack Saunders).
Speaking ahead of their first release of 2024, frontman Angus Rogers stated: “We, Opus Kink, step once more into the light with new single ‘I Wanna Live With You’, a slice of gutter-pop romance concerning our desire for everlasting and fatal love. Take deep into your heart its voluptuous bassline, seductive overtones and irresistible beat, become infatuated with the navel-scream of its wild horns, and we could connect like we’ve never done before.”
Opus Kink’s ‘I Wanna Live With You’ is out now via Hideous Mink Records & SO Recordings and available on all digital platforms.
Opus Kink is Angus Rogers (lead vocals, guitars), Sam Abbo (bass, backing vocals), Fin Abbo (drums, percussion), Jazz Pope (keys, synth, backing vocals), Jack Banjo Courtney (trumpet), Jed Morgans (saxophone)
