Brighton sextet Opus Kink share bristling new effort ‘1 : 18’, arriving today (April 4th), the second reveal from the band’s eagerly anticipated second EP ‘My Eyes, Brother!’, set for release May 19th via Nice Swan Records (Sports Team, Pip Blom, FUR, English Teacher).
Partnering with the revered indie label for their upcoming release, the enigmatic six-piece’s impressive progression shows no signs of slowing down, with the DIY Magazine Class of 2023 readying themselves for their biggest headline shows to date (including London’s iconic Village Underground) in the spring, followed by a slew of festival dates throughout the summer months.
The follow-up to 2022 debut EP ‘‘Til The Stream Runs Dry’, ‘1 : 18’ follows raucous lead track ‘Dust’ and marks the latest addition to their irrepressible musical patchwork of chaotic brilliance, drawing plentiful plaudits from key press champions (The Sunday Times, The Independent, NME, DIY, So Young, Dork, Clash, Gigwise, Under The Radar) and radio tastemakers in the process, with two appearances on the BBC 6 Music playlist (Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne) and unbridled support on BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders).
Speaking ahead of their newest release, Opus Kink stated: “This is a song about letting your hair down and finding peace in the unreasonable squalid indifference of the universe.. You do you, hun!”
Opus Kink’s ‘1 : 18’ is out now via Nice Swan Records and available on all digital platforms.
Opus Kink is Angus Rogers (lead vocals, guitars), Sam Abbo (bass, backing vocals), Fin Abbo (drums, percussion), Jazz Pope (keys, synth, backing vocals), Jack Banjo Courtney (trumpet), Jed Morgans (saxophone)
