Today, Hong Kong born, London-based artist bb sway (they/them) releases their poignant and ethereal new single ‘Everything You’ve Always Wanted’ via 7476. A magical, lullaby-like ballad that merges diary-entry lyrics with soft, rhythmic and folk-adjacent guitar lines and beautiful harmonies. The track is a truly magical exploration of the bittersweet feelings of grief and joy that comes with periods of transition in life: ‘and you’re here now for a reason / you’ve finally arrived / everything you’ve always wanted / tears in your eyes’. bb sway’s unique merging of genres and approach to music is one of a kind. The single is the first from bb sway’s freshly announced new EP ‘How Will I Get There?’ which arrives on 26 May via 7476.
On the track, bb sway offers: “Everything You’ve Always Wanted is about the often bittersweet arrival of some long-awaited, inevitable conclusion. To embrace yourself and your own journey is to love and also to grieve. To grow is to outgrow; we often grieve what we have to leave behind in order to move forward.”
bb sway is following on from their ‘Pearl’ EP - released in 2021 to widespread acclaim and winning fans from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music to Spotify editorial playlists such as All New Indie and New Music Friday. ‘Your Type,’ their recent collaboration with Basile Petit, came out last year receiving support from outlets like COLORS and DIY. bb sway has worked hard at establishing themself as one of the most exciting prospects to emerge in the last couple of years.
