Glaswegian singer-songwriter Lizzie Reid has shared her most sonically carefree single yet, ‘Warpaint’. She has also confirmed that she'll be appearing at Latitude this summer. This announcement comes after a recent run of three consecutive sold-out headline shows at The Glad Cafe in Glasgow, as well as two endearing support slots alongside Paolo Nutini in Oban.
‘Warpaint’ is the third track to be taken from Lizzie’s upcoming EP ‘Mooching’, due out via sevenfoursevensix (Matilda Mann, Matt Maltese, tinyumbrellas) on August 24th. The track was co-written with Andy Monaghan (Frightened Rabbit) and follows on from ‘How Do I Show My Love?’ and ‘Bible’, which won widespread support at press and has had airplay on Radio 1, 6Music and Radio 2.
‘Warpaint’ tells the story of a girl that Lizzie had a crush on who unexpectedly turned up to a party with a new boyfriend. But rather than letting their arrival get her down, Lizzie shrugs it off and keeps dancing with her pals. This blasé response is reflected in the joyous layers of guitars and the vocals which stretch to new depths as yet unexplored in Lizzie's music. It celebrates the unpredictability of life and love and proudly proclaims that seizing the moment is something worth relishing.
