city: Belfast, South London"oan' is about trying to work out where yourself and the people around you sit on various spectrums. The spectrums discussed in the song are mentally ill/healthy , addicted/just messing about , helpful/obstructive , good/bad . it is natural that these answers are dependent on perspective and that there is rarely one solid answer , but we live in a system that morally collapses if we cant point to certain people as the ‘bad’ one , the ‘ill’ one , or the ‘addicted’ one . this is the logic that distributes life chances , and the ‘good’ people get a vaguely comfortable life , and the ‘bad’ ones are subject to incarceration and institutionalised precarity. This song is about how , when you look into your own life , and the lives of people close to you , you can see that these moral lines don't really work at all , we don’t live in a ‘fair’ world where these labels can be applied meaningfully." - piglet
piglet is the solo project of Irish songwriter and producer Charlie Loane, born and raised in Belfast and based in South London.
His third single of 2021, ‘oan’ eschews a pop structure and instead embarks on a glorious multi-melodic journey through time, memory and experience, channelled through Loane's idiosyncratic DIY production.
"oan' is about trying to work out where yourself and the people around you sit on various spectrums", says Loane.

piglet released his first EP alex’s birthday in February 2020 on South London DIY label Double Dare, a warm set of songs which, like his writing with past project Great Dad, reflects themes of queer/trans experience, but with more of a personal focus. Two collaboration tracks with friends Porridge Radio were released in February 2021, titled “Let’s Not Fight!” and “Strong Enough”, ahead of the single “mill” in April and “dan's note” in September 2021.
‘oan' is released following strong support from Spotify (including the Fresh Finds, Lo-Fi Indie, Duvet Day & Out Now playlists), Matt Wilkinson at Apple Music 1, and a place on NTS Radio's WIP development programme.
piglet are touring with Porridge Radio in January 2022, and performing a fundraiser for trans healthcare at London's Avalon Cafe in South London.
