city: Belfast, South LondonSouth London-based Irish songwriter and producer piglet (Charlie Loane) (he/him) announces the release of his upcoming EP, for frank forever, set to drop on November 8 via Blue Flowers. This announcement is accompanied by the release of the EP's first single, "white knuckles," and the announcement of his upcoming UK headline tour.
Following a summer of acclaimed collaborations with Tiberius b and Jemima Coulter, piglet returns with "white knuckles," a powerful track that delves into the emotional complexity of recognizing and escaping a manipulative relationship. “white knuckles is about a moment of clarity, when you finally put together the pieces and take notice of the signs and patterns you previously ignored out of love for the other person,” piglet explains. “It's about the heartbreak of seeing things for what they really are and the freedom of choosing to walk away out of care for yourself.”
Known for his distinctive one-shot visuals, piglet continues to explore raw and authentic storytelling through his music videos. The video for “white knuckles” was a family affair, made with his younger sister and featuring his “wee brother” and friends. Shot in one chaotic take, piglet recalls, "The shoot was complete chaos, after many failed attempts due to rain, botched fight scenes, and tripping over while chasing each other, we finally managed to get to the end of the song. We were so covered in rain, ketchup, and dirt that we decided that that would have to be the one and headed straight to the pub. Despite all this, it is actually quite watchable :)"
for frank forever marks piglet's highly anticipated return since his 2022 EP seven songs, which garnered critical acclaim for its poignant exploration of the trans experience. Tracks like "it isnt fair" and "to you tonight" highlighted the injustices faced by trans people in the British healthcare system and celebrated queer identity, respectively. This body of work, along with the single "building site outside," solidified piglet's reputation as a powerful voice earning him recognition as one of The Face's One To Watch 23 and profiles in So Young and Loud & Quiet.
piglet's unique blend of emotionally charged lyrics and innovative visuals continue to resonate deeply with audiences, making for frank forever an anticipated release of the year. The EP is dedicated to piglet’s friend Frank (aka Trib) who completed suicide last summer.
He says; “i finished writing these songs just before he passed away, and most of the lyrics on the EP developed from experiences we shared through organizing together as part of a mutual aid group. mutual aid organising taught me so much about myself and the people around me. it laid bare the many ways that capitalism fails all of us, and brought me closer to the love which sustains us through this failure and builds in us the strength and motivation to fight for something better. for frank forever is about mutual aid, systemic failure, the joys and pains of community organizing, pathologization and dehumanization, community self-defence, delicious pints, substance abuse, direct action, die-hard anti-capitalism, working it out as you go along, deep friendship, family in all its forms, and lots of other stuff which doesn't fit well into a list format. its very serious and its not at all - its just what life felt like to me at the time. i hope you recognise yourself in it somewhere. thanks for listening <3”
piglet will go on a headline tour through the UK starting in Oxford on November 12 and ending in London at Corsica Studios on December 7. Full tour dates are below.
