Today, south London based Irish songwriter and producer piglet shares a final song “discreet” ahead of his seven songs EP which comes out this Friday, December 2nd via Blue Flowers.
 
“discreet” is accompanied by a visualiser from Toby Evans-Jesra who also plays guitar in piglet’s live band.
 
piglet says of the song and the forthcoming EP; “‘discreet” is the final track to be released before my ep 'seven songs' comes out in two days - very exciting imo ! best pal Toby Evans-Jesra made what i feel is a perfectly fitting accompaniment to the track without us even really discussing ideas , big up toby ! cant wait to release the rest of these songs , they've been through so many versions over the last couple years but I feel they really reached their final forms over this summer. This is the first release I've done where I've felt the songs were completely finished and the best I could make them , I hope they sound like that to you too :)”
 
piglet is the solo project of Irish songwriter and producer Charlie Loane, born and raised in Belfast and based in South London. seven songs EP is a collection of tracks that detail his experiences of mental health, substance abuse, affirmations of self-identity, trans experience and friendship.
 
The EP includes October’s single “to you tonight”, a giant song about love without gendered expectations as well as the hard-hitting “it isnt fair” which addresses the injustices of British healthcare provision for trans people. Both these tracks were released with poignant videos from trans filmmaker Harv Frost, the latter coordinated with fundraising activities for the We Exist charity.
 
The EP also includes re-recordings of previously released solo singles “mill”, “dans note” “oan”, songs which lead to a deal with London label Blue Flowers (Puma Blue, Nilüfer Yanya, Westerman) in late 2021. These songs were captured in a live session of piglet's 9 piece band featuring members of Goat Girl and caroline.
 
Previously, piglet released his debut EP alex’s birthday on DIY label Double Dare and two collaboration tracks with Porridge Radio through Secretly Canadian.
 
piglet has had 2022 features with Loud & Quiet, So Young, PAPER MAG, Dork, CLASH and The Face with Loud & Quiet including him in their April 22 article on The Deeper South, the new generation of South Londoners fighting for spaces & communities. Previous support has also come from DIY, FADER, Pitchfork, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan and much more.
 
piglet headlined a sold-out Bermondsey Social Club in November and has more recently played dates in Spain and Portugal.
