Mewn are not a band well versed in aloofness or irony, they have a burning desire to move audiences with sincerity and catharsis. The Manchester five piece draw from a wide range of influences, taking inspiration from artists such as Leonard Cohen, The Smiths, Timber Timbre, Father John Misty, PJ Harvey, Big Thief and Portishead to create something that combines art rock, psychedelia, post punk, folk, indie rock and pop.
They aren’t to be missed live, with an act that will remind audiences of Bruce Springsteen or Arcade Fire in their prime, providing a whirlwind of energy and emotion that can flourish equally in an intimate venue or filling a festival stage.
After the success of 2021’s Landscapes Unchanged and 2022’s Such As This, they are set to release their third EP via Northern flag-bearers Modern Sky. Notable shows so far have included Blue Dot Festival, Left of the Dial in Rotterdam and supporting the National and Dry Cleaning at Manchester's 12,000 capacity Mayfield Depot. They have been championed by the likes of Steve Lamacq, DIY Magazine and So Young Magazine and were named Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham’s artist of the month for September 2023.
