Yorkshire-born, London-based music maverick, Ethan P. Flynn was less than a year into an electronic music degree at London’s Guildhall when things started happening. At 19, the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist had production and writing credits on records by David Byrne and FKA twigs, a record deal, and talk of the unique style - rooted in songwriting traditions yet reflecting the culture around him - which he was forging. After he dropped out of Guildhall to devote time to his own music, Ethan found himself alone, so turned to traditional songwriting where he developed a rapid work ethic with a new song a day.
The prodigious output had already led to B-Sides & Rarities, Vol. 1, a 2020 release that caught the attention of The Sunday Times, who accurately described Flynn as, “an appealingly wayward and unboxable talent”, DAZED “there’s no one out there doing it quite like Flynn”, and CLASH who said Ethan’s “a kind of Jonathan Richman for the post-Millennial era.”
While Ethan developed his own artistry, he continued to work with a diverse host of familiar names like Florence + The Machine, Celeste, Vegyn, and he created music for the TV series MOOD, which won the BAFTA for Best Original Music. In 2022 Ethan released the “astoundingly accomplished” (Clash) Universal Deluge, an EP which lay the foundations for his forthcoming debut album, Abandon All Hope. Abandon All Hope is a bold statement of Ethan P. Flynn’s arrival as a true artist in his own right.
