Award winning, musical polymath Emma-Jean Thackray continues to deliver the musical goods in 2022. Following her live EP ‘Yellower Vol.1’, a headline UK tour, and a release from new project Talking Therapy Ensemble, today, Emma-Jean Thackray unveils the superb Black Science Orchestra remix of her single ‘Venus’ a stand-out from her debut album ‘Yellow’.

Co-founders Ashley Beedle and Rob Mello, along with their new musical maestro Darren Morris, relaunch their legendary Black Science Orchestra moniker for the first time in two decades with their remix of ‘Venus’. The Black Science remix delivers their crucial mixture of low-slung drum machines alongside slivers of the original percussion, blending them with gooey synth basslines and Emma-Jean Thackray’s hooky and irresistible bass-guitar melody. Her vocals soar across this undulating swing of interlocking grooves, with chicken-scratch guitars and a beautifully crafted sonic bed by the trio that allows for the dazzling sections of the original track to truly shine through. This new remix joins a long list of some of the greatest musical names, including Masters at Work, Farley and Heller, Lisa Stansfield and many more.

2021 saw the release of Thackray’s highly anticipated debut album Yellow that came out via her own label Movementt, Yellow debuted #1 on Jazz & Blues Chart, remaining top for 6 weeks and charted Top 75 on the Official Album Charts. Thackray was named the winner of UK Jazz Act of the Year (Jazz FM Awards), nominated for Best Jazz Act at this year’s MOBO Awards and Gilles Peterson crowned ‘Yellow’ his 6Music Album of The Year. Along with her own UK / EU headline dates, Emma-Jean Thackray has been confirmed for this year’s Glastonbury, End Of The Road and 6Music Festivals.
