Musical polymath Emma-Jean Thackray today releases the Theo Kottis remix of previous single ‘Spectre’, a song that channels the language of a haunting to confront the harsh reality of depression. Scottish producer and DJ, Theo Kottis offers a new perspective on the track, pulling out the uplifting moments from the original track with a club-ready, house-inflected remix.

Emma-Jean Thackray on the remix "I love hearing my music in different contexts. My original Spectre tune is quite heavy in terms of subject matter, so I was really excited to see if people could resonate with it on the dance floor, like a catharsis through movement. Theo's DJ sets and the music he makes are so easy to move to, he really knows how to take people on a physical journey, so linking up for this remix seemed like a perfect match."

Theo Kottis’ remix follows the superb Black Science Orchestra remix of ‘Venus’ which has just been added to the A-List at BBC Radio 6. Both original versions of the tracks feature on Thackray’s award winning debut ‘Yellow’ which came out last year on her label Movementt.

2021 saw the release of Thackray’s highly anticipated debut album Yellow that came out via her own label Movementt, Yellow debuted #1 on Jazz & Blues Chart, remaining top for 6 weeks and charted Top 75 on the Official Album Charts. Thackray was named the winner of UK Jazz Act of the Year (Jazz FM Awards), nominated for Best Jazz Act at this year’s MOBO Awards and Gilles Peterson crowned ‘Yellow’ his 6Music Album of The Year.
