Amateur Ornithologist looks for a Sunscreen during this historic summer, with the release of his new single on Friday 9th September.
Sunscreen is a slice of wistful melodic indiepop from Amateur Ornithologist, perfect for a late summer evening.
The single is the fourth and final from Amateur Ornithologist's forthcoming album Building the Bird, following Hermit Phase, I Told A Lie and A Better Person. These tracks received airplay on BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and a host of other stations, with reviewers describing the songs as "charismatic and sophisticated" (Phonograph Me), highlighting "great backing vocals and well placed harmonies" (Send Me Your Ears), and stating "you can't help but smile from the very start" (NARC).
Sunscreen features a number of Amateur Ornithologist signatures; catchy chorus, multi-part harmonies, and a one-bar bass solo. The mid-tempo singalong is built around the pale and ginger-haired singer-songwriter's fear of the summer, assisted by 80s synth sounds and post-punk lead guitar.
Sunscreen continues 2022's journey through Amateur Ornithologist's fears, doubts, nostalgia and loves. Next stop, the album Building the Bird in October.
Sunscreen is released digitally by Harbourmaster Recordings on Friday 9th September.
Taken from the album, Building the Bird, released Friday 21st October by Harbourmaster Recordings and Regret Everything Records.
