July 25th - Abbie Ozard releases debut album everything still worries me today via House Anxiety. It lands with a video for the introspective title-track.

The debut LP is at heart a celebration of friendships, family and relationships, all the while presenting an underlying sense of uncertainty, reflecting the unease of navigating life in your twenties. As Abbie says:

“‘everything still worries me’ is the title track from the album and encapsulates what every single track on this record is about. When I first started writing I wanted to get across so many points that I struggled putting everything into words and I had no idea what it was going to become, but after writing this song along with ‘the window’ and ‘how are you holding up’ everything just seemed to take shape. 

 Your 20’s can be a really wild ride.. everything changes, the people around you change, your surroundings change and you’re learning to be a functioning member of society with a backdrop of constant anxiety. This record celebrates every aspect of that, from regrets, relationship realisations, navigating adulthood and then all the good stuff that comes out of it like treasuring friendships, sisterhood and love.”

The debut LP embraces knotty questions - should we be happy and content with the small things that bring us joy, and are we being spoilt by wanting more? Or are we meant to work as hard as possible to achieve our ‘dream life’? Abbie paints an ‘upside down world’, not knowing what the hell is going on - all the while romanticising everyday things to come back down to earth. 

This is followed in the visual aesthetic - exemplified by the new video:

“We wanted the video for ‘everything still worries me’ to evoke the feeling of being massively overwhelmed. I spoke with some friends about ideas and we talked about safe spaces for that moment when it all gets too much. A toilet cubicle felt fitting as the track is an anthem for when life is bit shit and I wanted it to be no-frills just straight up anxiety to get that message across.”

This expansive thematic approach is reflected in the sound of the record - everything is unashamedly big and bright, designed to hit the seats at the back of the arena. This has been reflected in the singles ‘days like these’, ‘i don’t know happiness without you’, 'anything for you’, ‘miss american dream’ ft. Pixey, and ‘monsters’.

Abbie has been championed throughout her career by the most trusted of tastemakers, press takes have come in from broadsheets (The Times, The Independent), indie bibles (DORK, The Line of Best Fit, Clash) and style / culture press (The FADER, NOTION, HUNGER) alike.

Jack Saunders and Huw Stephens have consistently backed across BBC Radio 1, where she has also seen daytime airplay courtesy of  BBC Introducing Track of the Week. Abbie McCarthy and Chris Hawkins have been fans at BBC 6 Music.

Headline tours through 2022 and 2203; a debut Glastonbury performance and European tour support stint with Briston Maroney, as well as many festival slots have seen the indie anthems well and truly road-tested, with a new UK tour scheduled for 2024.
