Manchester’s Abbie Ozard releases new single ‘ford (drive)’ today via House Anxiety - ahead of her biggest headline tour to date.
It follows this summer’s acclaimed Water Based Lullabies EP - and continues Abbie’s knack for expressing the duality within hazy, emotional situations, and expressing relatable vulnerability via her dreamy soundscapes. As she describes:
“I wrote this song before I passed my driving test this year, and I thrived off being a passenger in the front seat of the car. ‘ford (drive)’ is subjectively a love song but with a twist of angst (a recurring theme I seem to have in most of my songs).
I always have this underlying insecurity that I'm way too much, or my least favourite personality trait of oversharing will start to ruin things. Despite these insecurities, I wanted to capture the euphoria of romance, friendship, and feeling so at home with someone you feel like you can overshare till your heart's content. So I guess in that way, this song is an ode to fellow oversharers.”
Having toured with contemporaries Lauran Hibberd and Phoebe Green at personal request, November and December’s dates represent her most high-profile headline jaunt to date, and a chance to celebrate Water Based Lullabies in an electrifying setting.
Championed throughout her career by the most trusted of tastemakers, press takes have come in from broadsheets (The Times, The Independent), indie bibles (DORK, The Line of Best Fit) and style / culture press (The FADER, NOTION, CLASH) alike.
Jack Saunders and Huw Stephens have consistently backed across BBC Radio 1, with Abbie McCarthy and Chris Hawkins offering spins at BBC 6 Music.
