tall child is the alias for Zha Gandhi, a musician of Nigerian/Indian heritage based in London, who’s paving the way for other black artists in the indie music scene. Zha takes inspiration from the likes of Mitski, Julia Jacklin, Solange and Alicia Keys, to create a beautifully intimate and authentic basis for their soundscape. They build on this with a brutally honest style of lyricism, that explores their experiences as a queer disabled POC, to develop a sonic space especially for those who feel their differences being used against them.
Born into a family of professional musicians, Zha’s love of singing and songwriting started at a young age. After being accepted into The BRIT School, Zha began their journey as a dedicated musician. They went on to study Popular Music at Goldsmiths University of London, where they met their current bandmates while playing for other bands as a synth player and backing vocalist. These included projects like Buggs and Luce Rushton.
Their first debut single ‘Damaged’ is out right now!
