London based, subversive post-punk trio deep tan are back with their new single, ‘rudy ya ya ya’ and news of their sophomore EP, ‘diamond horsetail’ which is available digitally on 6th May with physical to follow on 22nd July. Alongside this, the band are also releasing a Dinked Edition which features ‘diamond horsetail’ and previous EP ‘creeping speedwells’ exclusively pressed together on ‘piss kink yellow’ vinyl, limited to 400 copies, find yours here.

Since they released their debut EP ‘creeping speedwells’ last year to widespread critical acclaim, deep tan have been winning over legions of fans with their unique brand of post-punk; never afraid of challenging the establishment, their songs are politically astute and socially conscious but never preachy. It’s a potent blend that has seen the band thrust to the forefront of the chasing pack with a string of fine releases and a subversive punk spirit. The band then went on to release a Dan Carey produced single with legendary label Speedy Wunderground, ‘tamu’s yiffing refuge’, a stripped down, driving track that once again proves less is more.

deep tan make music that emerges from the fatalistic side of life with a flash of cynicism and a rumble of venomous intent. Their stripped-back, minimal sound is a vehicle for songs that engage with contemporary themes, from deepfake revenge pornography to surreal meme pages and stories of furry hedonism.

The band are hitting the road hard this spring with a host of shows supporting Bodega and Bambara culminating in their first UK wide headline tour - all dates below.

As well as touring the EP extensively throughout 2021, including a slew of tastemaker festivals like Dot-To-Dot, Live At Leeds, Wide Eyed Festival and Manchester Psych Fest, the band also joined fellow uk post-punks Yard Act on the road, supporting them on the September leg of their Dark Days EP tour.

Steve Lamacq also made the band his BBC 6Music Spotlight Artist in May 2021.

London based, subversive post-punk trio deep tan are releasing the video for their single, ‘rudy ya ya ya’ - the first known diss track to Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, with a distinctly angular and immersive energy. As a summer packed with festivals - with deep tan drawing praise from the likes of The Guardian and The Times - draws to a close, the band offer up a visual accompaniment to their single which is pure deep tan: spiky guitars above a driving rhythm section and a sharp, detached vocal.

The ‘diamond horsetail’ EP features previous singles ‘beginners’ krav maga’ and ‘rudy ya ya ya’, the former of which is a dark and haunting track with dissonant guitars in response to the idea that women should take self defence classes.
