Scotland’s newest indie exports YABBA share debut EP lead single ‘Jawbone’, out today (April 12th) via cult indie label Nice Swan Records (Sports Team, English Teacher, Opus Kink).
Partnering with the revered tastemakers for their second ever release, the Dumfries newcomers have raw and simple ambitions: to save music from mediocrity. YABBA is a carnal experience, one that takes the genre of rock n’ roll to dark places and spits it back out with its own gritty formulaic progressions carved into it. Within the first year of their existence, YABBA have seized attention with their dark and venomous sound. More a collective than a band, they do everything, they go everywhere musically, no limits. They create nothing from something and something from nothing. They go above and beyond all cultural norms to fecund a feeling in music that specialises in the dark and danceable.
Following the release of their blistering debut single, ‘Get By’ late last year, YABBA turned industry heads with ardent press and playlist coverage from the likes of NME and Clash, and will be hitting the road with their limitless, chaotic and electric live shows across the national and international grid this summer including dates at Green Man Festival and The Great Escape.
Detailing their latest release, YABBA explained: ““Jawbone is a bluesy number from YABBA. It is another riff driven track, a sharp and quick little ditty. Very rock n’ roll. Very strong. One of the early songs that people seemed to like. It’s versatile so you can take it any which you want.”
YABBA’s ‘Jawbone’ (single) is out now via Nice Swan Records and will be available on all digital platforms.
YABBA is Josh Kirk (vocalist), Korey Patterson (guitarist), Elias Muusavi (guitarist), Max Thomson (drummer), Nick Farrell (synth)
