The Moral High Ground is the musical guise of North-East London based creative musician and songwriter Danny Smartt, after relocating to London from his hometown of Holywood, Belfast. Emerging in 2018, Smartt was initially inspired by the band Dinosaur Pile-Up, citing their first album as the blueprint behind The Moral High Ground "[Their first album] Growing Pains was nuts, and exactly what I needed to hear when I was a teenager. It's the reason I play in a band now."
Smartt formally became a member in London bands Honey Lung and Qlowski before becoming the current guitar player for Alien Tango. After assembling together the live band, The Moral High Ground quickly took to the stage alongside releasing two online demos, a music video, cassette tape and a recent self-released single at the start of February.
Since 2020, the band have played multiple shows across London including Sebright Arms, The Shacklewell Arms, The Victoria Dalston, Paper Dress Vintage and have shared the stage with Gag Salon, Lemondaze and Japanese Television.
