Sis is singer and multi-instrumentalist Jenny Gillespie Mason. The project has featured guitarist Carly Bond (), Brijean Murphy (), Doug Stuart (), Otto Hauser (, ), and Joseph Adamik (). Her newest work, Gnani (January 2022) arrives at the culmination of a lifelong journey of being a musician, working with collaborators near and far. Inspired by the spiritual jazz of --the kind of music that seemed to wordlessly get at the longing and hungers of this particular time on earth--Mason set to write a new work to heal herself. Not only to heal from the wreckage of the collective year, but from the sometimes fragmented paths as mother, wife, artist, and individual. The true work behind Gnani was to seek a new wholeness through song. Using vintage keyboards such as clavinet, Phillicordia, Rhodes, and ARP Odyssey, she sought to weave an intimate but vibrant sound. Working in Ableton and tapping the endless sound vaults of Omnisphere also aided her in her new sonic explorations. Bringing in the intuitive and fierce playing of Brijean Murphy (congas, bongos, percussion), Hamir Atwal (on percussion and drums, and Doug Stuart on bass, brought Gnani to its fullest expression. With an intention to heal the listener-while healing herself through the creation of these songs-Sis offers you Gnani.
