Sculpture began life as a heap of demos created by songwriter Ted Mair, which included a variety of classical instruments rediscovered after years of neglect (clarinet and double bass). Once the band were assembled, these foetal demos were brought to life, now more filled out and muscular. Since 2021, Ted has been joined by fellow The Golden Dregs member Matt Merriman (drums), Qlowski member Lucy Ludlow (cello/bass), contemporary composer James Hurst (clarinet/cello), and writer Aaron Skates (guitar/bass). They are now a collaborative entity. Their debut EP, Lichtenberg Figure, is released via My Life Is Big. To create the visual side of the release, the band spent a day assembling various structures of wood, fabric, and found objects. The documentation of this is seen in the video for Here You, as well as being manipulated to create the EP’s cover. Both works were edited by Lucy Ludlow, after the initial day of group work.
