New single ‘Take It’ is a sleazy slip ’n’ slide adventure between psych rock, the blues and a heavy serving of the feeling that something filthy is happening in the room next door. All of that mixed with Peer Pleasure’s signature grime results in the dynamic and unpredictable beauty on display in the group’s most recent work.
Expanding on the song, frontman Brandon Murphy states:
‘Take it is a documentation of every insufferable, pretentious or arrogant character you've ever met or caught yourself being. “If you think I'm sound, I'm sure you'll come around”, a journey of self discovery coming to terms with the less stunning and brave parts of the human psyche and facing down the barrel of your own uniqueness, originality, ability or lack thereof and the perpetual feeling of being outside a seemingly impenetrable in group. “Even if I had a thought I'd have no where to place it”, the pseudo intellectual posturing and peacocking that goes on in art spaces and in general between people in their early development with some to prove to themselves and others, an ode to the obnoxious, delightfully dedicated to the those diligent denizens of the unsqueezed middle.’
Recorded live at Hellfire Studios, Dublin, ‘Take It’ was engineered by Joe McGrath, mixed by Ivan Jackman and mastered by Killian Taylor. This second single comes ahead of a soon to be announced EP from the group.
Gigging at punk festivals, pubs and squats across Northern Europe, the band have adopted a DIY ethos which has already brought them to Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
Peer Pleasure’s most notable show to date was a protest show in support of the Revolutionary Housing League at Ionad Sean Heuston in which the band played a large role in successfully raising €1,500 in funds for the group. The show took place in an abandoned factory that had been occupied to aid rough sleepers and refugees.
Peer Pleasure are due to play many gigs across Ireland this Winter, with dates booked in Dublin, Drogheda, Waterford and everywhere in between.
