Oh Bummer! (AKA Tanner) gives some insight about how “Losing Sunlight” came together.
At the beginning of the pandemic when it felt like everyone was sick and dying and the world was on fire, I lost a friend from back home to a chronic illness, my niece and nephew lost their father to an overdose, and my uncle died from the same. Everyone in my life felt doomed, heart broken, and scared for the future. In short, “Losing Sunlight” is about the all too familiar feelings that come with mourning, grief and loss. All paired with the incredible production and flip The Kickdrums did of the song “Over Night Low” by Rev. Jay.
