"a self-awareness and emotional honesty that feels truly specific to them" - Notion
"equal parts direct and surreal, arresting and mystifying" - Clash
"dreamy" - Brooklyn Vegan
"Sweet-toothed, melancholic pop" - The New Cue

Today, London art-pop quartet Mylar share brand new track “Stay Close”, the first cut from a new batch of music to be released early 2023.
Inspired by Peter Gabriel’s intricate drums and the emotional directness of 90s R&B, the skittery groove dictates the mood, mirroring the awkward conversation the song is trying to have.
The band says “it's about people who have needed support from us at times, and the pressure that comes with that. The tension between learning to let people live their lives and how difficult that can be in practice.”
“Stay Close” follows on from debut EP Elsewhere, released earlier this year which included standout single “Plastic Champ” which secured early praise from Notion, Clash, Brooklyn Vegan, The New Cue, The Independent, The Line of Best Fit, Disco Naïveté and much more.
The EP was the band’s first for acclaimed label Blue Flowers and pored over the universal vulnerabilities of their internal selves and those around them.
“Stay Close” carries this same feeling, and like Elsewhere it was recorded between London and Spain and produced by the band. It was mixed in Spain by Iñaki de las Cuevas.
Today Mylar also announce their London headline show at The Shacklewell Arms on 30th March.
Mylar are made up of Tom Clark (guitar, synth), Rob Janke (drums, backing vocals) Neraj Thangarajah (guitar, keys, vocals) and Tom Short (keys, bass, vocals).
