Steadily building his profile via a run of addictive genre-bending singles throughout 2021, emerging London artist Le Junk returns today with the new single ‘America’. It follows the recent releases ‘Sticky Side’ and ‘Bad Stuff’, which have seen Le Junk praised by key tastemaker titles including CLASH, The Line of Best Fit and 1883 Magazine.

The new single follows suit in Le Junk’s themes of angst, toxicity and reflecting upon the social issues of the present day. Capturing the unease and eeriness of the times we live in, hushed vocals fused with the deep groove of seductive bass lines and intertwining electronic elements create the unique and addictive atmosphere which sets Le Junk apart from his peers.

Speaking on ‘America’, Le Junk explains: “‘America’ is about the fears and tensions of modern life, using America as the poster child of the West to depict a nightmare of violent crime and prescription drug abuse, neglected by consumerism and political denial. Desperate to escape recurring feelings of frustration and helplessness and wake up from a world preoccupied by superficiality.”

The London newcomer cut his teeth performing live with various London musicians including Meggie Brown, Frances Lion and his own projects Eighteen Nightmares at The Lux and Big & The Fat; later collaborating with Primitive Ignorant on the ‘Infant Joy On Midnight Streets EP’.

Taking cues from the heavy bass and beat driven styles of artists like Peaches, Death From Above 1979 and LCD Soundsystem, Le Junk evolved from a passion for playing around with a bass and drum machine. He quickly progressed into styling and shaping alt-pop tracks in his bedroom studio; before surfacing amidst the mayhem of 2020 with a sound that presents itself as a captivating blend of alt-pop and glitzy electronica, and the slinky, seductive air of disco-rock.
