“Slick and breezy country-licked indie” Uncut
“These guys make jammy, lightly twangy ’90s style indie rock that falls somewhere between Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, Electrelane, and Pavement and they do it very well.” Brooklyn Vegan
While so many bands of brothers playing guitars seem like relics of the distant past, Langkamer seem willing and able to evolve with the times, and remain relevant and thriving as a result.” For The Rabbits
"Picture this: a late summer bonfire, a certain obsession with all things outlaw, abundant cold beers and a penchant for witty lyrics. Oh, and did we mention a lot of fun?” Shindig!
"Proving themselves as a force to be reckoned with, Langkamer are a band that have everything to offer." Gigwise
"A band at the top of their game with no plateau in sight...a jewel in Bristol’s crown." Wax Music

Guesting celebrated alt-folk visionary The Golden Dregs, Bristol slacker quartet Langkamer share second album teaser ‘At The Lake’ - out today (23rd July) via Breakfast Records.
A departure from their distinctive slacker-rock sound, ‘At The Lake’ sees the band drift towards contemplative David Berman-esque folk-americana and gritty slowcore to deliver one of their most touching releases to date. Featuring labelmate Josh Law (Getdown Services) on Banjo duties, the track offers a mournful reflection on “the fallout of binge drinking culture", leaving the listener in no doubt as to the meaning behind references to James Joyce, Janis Joplin and "souvenirs stolen from the dark". As drummer/lead vocalist Josh Jarman notes:
“At The Lake is a song about the fallout of binge drinking culture, and the prestige that we attach to the idea of the poète maudit. The way we romanticise unhealthy behaviour in the name of ‘creativity’"
Recorded at The Cornish Bank in Falmouth, ‘At The Lake’ offers the second teaser of upcoming album Langzamer (Dutch for ‘Slower’) in which the band, seasoned by three years of frenetic writing and recording, and afflicted by great personal loss, move to tackle some of life’s weighter issues, namely Death and God.
More about Langkamer:
Distinguished by a prolific recording output - the past three years alone have garnered 3 albums, an EP, plus a string of standalone singles - Langkamer have also released collaborations with the likes of Willie J Healey, Fenne Lily and Clara Mann, and now, The Golden Dregs. Prodigiously gigging during that time too, the quartet have played sold-out rooms across the UK and Europe, as well as playing support slots for Mystery Jets, Jeffrey Lewis, The Wave Pictures, Juan Waters, Ratboys and Opus Kink.
The news of Langkamer’s latest record comes following press and radio support from the likes of Uncut, Brooklyn Vegan, BBC Radio 6Music (Huw Stevens, Mark Radcliffe, Steve Lamacq, and Tom Robinson), Radio X (John Kennedy), So Young, Rough Trade Counter Culture, Blogotheque, Morning Star, Wax Music and Clunk.
Their third album in just as many years, Langzamer sees the Bristol-based band further refine their unique blend of slacker rock, alt-country and West Country folklore with a sincere meditation on grief and loss. Decamping to Falmouth to record with producer Ben Woods (The Golden Dregs), the band transformed the old vaults under venue The Cornish Bank into a makeshift studio, spending a week laying down the foundations for an album that had been gradually written over the previous twelve months. This slower, more considered, pace can be heard throughout Langzamer, with the band often trading in their breezy, melodic charm for disarming confessionalism. From scuzzy opener ‘Heart of Tin’ to the sparse, haunting piano of closer ‘Bluff’, there is a candour that challenges any casual listener, an emotional weight that lingers long after the album ends. Amongst Langkamer’s prolific output, Langzamer bravely stands tall as their most restrained, matured, and sincere collection to date.
Langzamer is being released via Breakfast Records on the 16th October, 2024.
