Lacuna Common met as teenagers in the satellite towns surrounding Oxford, bonding over their shared loves of classic British guitar music, and - less commonly - road racing. Professional cycling’s loss became modern indie’s gain, after the band formed in the wake of an inspiring blur of a weekend at their local Truck Festival. Lyrically to-the-bone, frontman Alfie Franks (vocals/guitar) combines takedowns of small town mentalities with feedback-laced guitars, backed up by the rhythm section of his childhood friends Tom Eveleigh (bass/vocals), Gabriel Blythe (drums) and James Evans (Keys).
Recently seen sharing a stage with the likes of Biffy Clyro, Hinds, Sports Team, Fontaines D.C, Willie J Healey, Trudy & The Romance, JAWS and more, early singles picked up plaudits from DIY, NME, BBC Introducing, Clash, So Young and beyond. Debut EP It's All Talk is scheduled for release in May 2021, the first of two planned for this year. “A band with an untameable, fizzy energy” - DIY "Raucous Oxford newcomers" - NME “Devoutly British in the same way as the intricate design of a Wetherspoons carpet” - Clash
