Accompanying the announcement of further UK headline tour dates for 2025 and a sold-out London headline next month (full details below), Bristol quartet Langkamer release third studio album 'Langzamer' - out now via Breakfast Records (Getdown Services)
Serving up a heavy-hitting blend of Indie-Americana and gritty Alt-Country - a genre otherwise known as ‘Bootgaze’ - and recalling the likes of MJ Lenderman, Brown Horse and Ratboys (the band have supported the latter two in the past year) - 'Langzamer' offers the band's most mature collection to date. Recorded at The Cornish Bank in Falmouth with Ben Woods of The Golden Dregs, and taking its title from the dutch word meaning 'slower', the band, seasoned by three years of frenetic writing and recording, and afflicted by great personal loss, move to tackle some of life’s weighter issues, namely Death and God, as drummer/vocalist Josh Jarman explains:
“The process was much slower and more considered for 'Langzamer'. The first two albums felt pretty urgent, and each was finished in about 6 months, but this one feels a lot more deliberate. It’s taken us two years to get this done. Principally this is an album about grief, and everything that entails. In a sense death brought these songs to life.”
Distinguished by a prolific recording output - the past three years alone have garnered 3 albums, an EP, a string of standalone singles and a dedicated cult following. Released collaborations with the likes of Willie J Healey, Fenne Lily, Clara Mann, and The Golden Dregs all the while, Langkamer have quartet have played several sold-out rooms across the UK and Europe, as well as support slots for Mystery Jets, Jeffrey Lewis, The Wave Pictures, Juan Waters, ratboys and Opus Kink.
Winning the recent backing of BBC Radio 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens), Radio X (John Kennedy), Rough Trade, Uncut, Brooklyn Vegan, Clunk and For The Rabbits, the band ready themselves for a 13-date UK Headline tour, starting next month (full details below)
