Bristolian Post Punk band Knives debut with their First EP “Newshounds” on April 14th. With their pop infused style and Idles-esq noise, they have been creating a reputation in the punk and alternative scene playing shows with Life, Soul Glo and James and the Cold Gun whilst receiving attention from anyone who hears their mastered EP. Since the release of their first single, Knives have revelled in its spirited response whilst selling out an energetic Rough Trade Bristol headline show, announcing more very exciting shows, and becoming a discussion topic within the scene. They have put a unique spin on what punk is known for, creating their own noise with their saxophonist Maddy Hill who plays alongside Dan Farren and Josh Cook on guitar, bassist Ben Marshall, Erin Cook on Drums and Jay Schottlander on vocals (and on-stage nonsensical chatter). They all take creative leaps to design new waves as heard on Newshounds, spitting out dramatic breakdowns and aggressive lyrics. The band are more than excited to release this chaotic EP that has been in the making for a year and a half before Bob Cooper, the same producer that brought discography from Jools, Citizen and Cassels, mixed the songs into the precise and noisy pieces they are today. The coherence of the EP was also brought by the mastering of Katie Tavini, allowing the band to have a very impressive start for their first releases.
