“A tuneful blast of fuzzed-out guitar” Stereogum
“pretty glorious indeed” DIY
“absolutely slaps” NME
“a deft pop explosion” Clash
“Feverish pop turns and frenetic guitar solos” Dork
London-based neo-grunge duo Exit Kid share emotive new effort ‘Classic Lie’, out today (July 12th), marking the first reveal from the band’s debut LP slated for release later this year.
Having initially made a name for themselves with a string of frenetic fuzzed-out releases, including their ‘Basis’ (2022) and ‘Garden’ (2021) EPs, the group have firmly leant on the most exhilarating elements of 90s alternative rock, yet their forthcoming material reveals a much softer side, showcasing an array of introspective jams.
Comprised of Emre Türkmen and Dylan Bell (drums), who met fatefully during the 2017 tour of Emre’s former band, Years and Years, the two-piece’s own brand of rock (think Smashing Pumpkins meets Blur) has already won widespread acclaim from the likes of NME, The Independent, Stereogum, DIY, Dork, The Line of Best Fit and Clash, as well as BBC Radio 1 airplay (Jack Saunders, Phil Taggart, Sian Eleri, Huw Stephens and more), with the group primed to hit the road later this year ahead of their debut album release.
Speaking ahead of their single’s arrival, Türkmen added: “The song is about the lies we tell ourselves and the bubbles we live in as we are increasingly divorced from reality. The truth is not online”.
