Today New York’s Daneshevskaya returns with “Scrooge,” a swirling look at estrangement in a relationship, painted in their signature dark romanticism. Loosely referencing Charles Dickens' A Christmas Story protagonist, "Scrooge" unfolds as a lush arrangement of strings, guitars and doubled vocals. Long time Daneshevskaya fans may remember the song from an earlier release, but this year it’s back with a fresh arrangement, newly recorded vocals and a charming music video made with the band’s Maddy Leshner. “Scrooge” the first release from Daneshevskaya since 2023's acclaimed ‘Long Is The Tunnel,’ which earned singer and songwriter Anna Beckerman a nod as a Rolling Stone ‘Artist You Need To Know’ (Dec ’23), Stereogum ‘Artist To Watch’ and landed at #11 on Paste’s ‘30 Best Debut Albums of 2023.’ If you happen to be in NYC, Daneshevskaysa recently announced a headline show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn on Dec 13.
