After moving from Edinburgh to Glasgow in 2018, Scottish multi-instrumentalist Brett McCann formed his DIY solo project Community Swimming Pool in 2020.
Since then he has built a catalogue of self-produced and self-released dream pop songs. Head In The Clouds (2023) happily picks up where All The Time ft. Chicago’s COOL HEAT (2022) left off. Comfortably reinstating his favoured tape fluttered jangly guitar sounds drawing from his early releases in Upside Down (2020) and I Don’t Wanna Lose You (2021), the warm, lush, New York underground inspired dream pop, from debut Gloom / Bloom (2021), and the evolving, adventurous, synth kissed, wall of sound from I Don’t Know (2021), his personal favourite Another Heart (2022) and Valentine (2022).
Community Swimming Pool’s often revealing lyrics tell a coming-of-age story. Reflecting heavily on depression, friendships gained and lost, love and the struggle as a young independent musician in Glasgow — it’s a comforting blend of self discovery.
