'All My Friends' is the latest offering from Dublin's Big Sleep, a groove-driven track laced with garage-rock meets americana soundscapes which consolidates their position as one of Ireland's most exciting new bands. This is the second release of 2024 from the band following 'Two Cents' which reached number 4 in the Irish Radio Breakers Charts. 'All My Friends' was recorded and produced by Chris Ryan (NewDad, Just Mustard, Robocobra Quartet) in Start Together Studios, Belfast in December 2023. Mixed and mastered by Tone Def (Briston Maroney, Green Day).
Quote about the song:
We started writing 'All My Friends' back in July 2022 just after we'd finished up a run of shows that we put together around Italy and France. We spent a couple of weeks driving around Europe in Matteo's mum's car playing our music in a different city every night. Even though it was a very DIY set up and tour that we'd managed to get together, we still felt like we were living the dream. The song captures the time we found ourselves in, going "on tour" like we'd always dreamed when a few months prior, we were still in a lockdown thinking we'd never play live again. For us the track is a reminder to appreciate the moment and the people around us right now. It's all fairly temporary in the grand scheme of things so we're all about keeping the party going and enjoying it while it lasts. It took us a few months to find an arrangement that we all felt did the song justice and when we stepped into the studio with Chris Ryan in Belfast he really helped bring it all together and create the sounds we were trying to achieve with the song.
The Dublin-based group partly came together at school and other's later joined through the city's live music scene. Blending indie-alternative influences with pop and soul, the Irish-Italian outfit takes influence from acts such as The Cure, JJ Cale, and Big Thief. Since their debut EP release in June 2022, Big Sleep have toured around Europe, received regular international radio play and featured on heavyweight Spotify editorials like New Music Friday, The Other List, All New Rock to name a few. 2023 was a sell out year for the upcoming act who sold out headliners across Dublin, London and Berlin alongside festival appearances at All Together Now, Indiependence and Electric Picnic. The band were also awarded the accolade as one of 2FM's Rising Artists of 2024. With a thick catalogue of tracks ready for release and international headline dates lined up, 2024 is set to be a breakout year for Big Sleep.
