“Think English Teacher on a bed of Four Tet” LOUD WOMEN
By their own esteem, Brighton’s AtticOmatic resist easy definition. Flitting between biting indie-rock, ethereal dream-pop, electronica and contemporary jazz, new single ‘Wait’ - out today (4th March), encompasses almost all of these aspects in one seamless sweep. Betraying the band both at their most all-out aggressive, as well as at their most sombrely sincere, the track’s lyric offers an earnest exploration of the relationship between the band’s twin lead vocalist Lorcan Forder and Kamran Kaur, as the former explains:
“We wrote Wait when we were both diagnosed at 23 with Autism (Kam) and ADHD (Lorcan), after having been in a relationship for 5 years. The lyrics are about how overwhelming love sometimes feels, Navigating what it is like to be in a neurodivergent relationship and understanding how similar, yet totally different two people can be.”
Coinciding with the start of a string of nationwide tour dates (full details below) news of a debut EP out in May, all culminating at their biggest show to date at Brighton’s Dust, AtticOmatic are moving from strength to strength. Forming in a house-share in Brighton, and including members of contemporaries Flip Top Head in its five-strong line up, the band have sold out numerous shows in their hometown, were personally invited by Nabihah Iqbal to support her at The 100 Club in September (she also spun the band on her curated BBC Radio 6Music special), and have chalked up shows too with the likes of highschool, Whitelands, wonderbug, Hank, and TV Priest. ”
