Dutch riser la loye shares evocative new cut ‘about imagining things’, coinciding with the release of captivating debut EP ‘to live underwater’, both set to arrive December 1st.
Showcasing her pristine songwriting ability and infectious persona with recent single offerings ‘white summer’ and ‘i’m still asleep’, the alt-folk newcomer has already generated effusive praise throughout the press community (The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, The Independent, Beats Per Minute) and is certainly well-positioned for the next stage of her musical journey in 2022.
With vivid inspiration extracted from the writings and musings of acts such as Elliott Smith, Mount Eerie, Radiohead and Big Thief, la loye’s layered soundscapes continue to impress through a combination of raw emotion, intricate guitar work and simmering vocals, all qualities of which will be on display at her sold-out Dutch headline show in early 2022 to mark her EP release.
Detailing her final single, la loye explained: ““Sometimes, when you’ve had a glass or two, you allow yourself to think thoughts that you would’ve maybe pushed away in a sober state. ‘about imagining things’ portrays this drunken swirl of emotions and observations, bouncing from one subject to the other. Amidst all the chaos, it’s these moments of letting go that are able to provide me with clarity.”
la loye’s ‘about imagining things’ is out December 1st alongside her debut EP ‘to live underwater’ and will be available via all digital platforms.
