The Optimistic Wrench is an obvious departure from the highly regarded 2021 album Always Something. On previous releases, the band had limited time and resources to accommodate the creative process but on The Optimistic Wrench, UV-TV practiced patience and utilized the studio as an instrument. “We wrote most of the record while playing with an Omnichord and recording sonic experiments using a Farfisa organ and broken synthesizers as our guide” says Vastola. This newfound approach is rewarding for the group and listeners alike, its effects resonating in exciting ways across The Optimistic Wrench, due October 11, 2024 on Papercup Music and No Non Fiction.
