As much inspired by the dirge of the Berlin club scene, as by the angular sound of 80s Post Punk; The Usual Boys' sound is characterized by janky guitars and driving bass lines which underpin a dark post Ironic take on a seemingly unending ascent into adulthood. 'The Usual Boys' formed when rambling folk melophile Aleksi Oksanen (Finland) met bairn of Postcard Records Ethan Dalziel (Scotland) and dedicated Schlage der Zeuge Patrick Pevsner (England) before the dingy backdrop of Berlin. The group were united by a love of cheap beer and the unlikely amalgamation began performing music, originally under the name 1 Christmas Extravaganza'. They looked to friend and music producer Rasmus Schmidt (Sweden) when seeking a bass player, who quickly became an indispensable part of the band 1 s sound. The band began as an eccentric live act and quickly became known for their anxious on-stage energy. They cut their teeth opening for artists such as The Undertones, The Happy Fits and The Bluestones, as well as playing sold-out shows in legendary venues such as S036, Frannz Club and Cassiopeia. Over time they have cemented themselves as a distinct highlight of the lndie scene in Berlin; embarking on their first 5 date headline tour of the UK in the Summer of 2023. Despite being unsigned they have been featured on music publications such as DiyMag, RiotMag and Imperfect Fifth, been featured on editorial Spotify playlists and gotten radio play in Germany and the UK. Now on 08.09 they are releasing their new single "I Want What You Have"; the second single from their upcoming debut album. It's an airy psychedelic rock ear-worm which breathes hot and cool. This marks a departure from the band's last Garage Rock single "French Cops" (06.2023) and begs the question: 'What's this album going to sound like?'.
