In the early Spring of 2022, Laurits Bigum Steinbergsailed out from the coast of Spain and for two monthshe left behind his everyday life. This impulsive sailing trip around the azure blue Mediterranean Sea to theendless Atlantic Ocean was a much-needed escape from reality andwhen Laurits finally returned toCopenhagen, his journey inspiredto new sounds, new lyrics and music to be made.Swim Club makes dreamy indie-pop–calm, freshand laidback. Almost meditative and shaped from simplemelodicstructures and musical themes, Swim Club creates impulsive, lively and both electronic andacoustic soundscapes.
The debut single, ’Hercules’, is out onMay 5th.
Laurits tells:”’Hercules’ is aboutthe rise and fall of the heroes of our lives. To see that rock-solid person, who was alwaysstrong like an ancient Greek hero and wise like a god to you, struggle to get back up. It’s also a song aboutpreserving good relations while the world is changing and seemingly nothing is what it used to be.”The story of ’Hercules’developsand growsfrom the opening notes onthe dusty analogue synthwhile thesweeping acoustic guitars disrupts halfway throughthe songcreating new blissful layers–a fine example ofwhat pleasant surprises Swim Club is bringing this Spring.‘
Hercules’ will be followed up by a debut-EP out on May 26t
