Bristol-based art-rock trio Sunglasz Vendor are releasing their sophomore single ‘Brick King’ on their own Vendrrrz label. A razor-sharp ride through the rock canon, the track wrestles with the waning ambition and social life that seeps into one’s late twenties.
Chopping between screeching walls of guitar and knotted drum fills, ‘Brick King’ confronts the self-loathing that comes from feeling left behind your peers. Among the chaos, the track still leaves breathing space for sweet cooing backing vocals and the band’s trademark earworm hooks.
On the single, singer Rafi Cohen offers: "Everyone reaches checkpoints in life where their youthful vigour drains away, bit by bit. I mean in a spiritual sense, not an aesthetic one. In an old group of friends, it is impossible to not notice this, especially as everyone’s transformations are never in sync.”
