Born and raised in the musical breeding ground of Minneapolis—home to influential acts like Hüsker Dü and Babes in Toyland—Steak Blake’s music is a rich tapestry of the sounds that shaped him. His relocation to the UK in 2019 and involvement with the cult-favorite DIY punk group Beige Banquet only expanded his musical horizons. This blend of American No-Wave and European Punk and Post-Punk influences is vividly apparent in "This One."
The EP showcases six tracks that channel Steak Blake's experiences and his reflections on modern existence through a mix of angular guitars, dynamic vocals, and introspective lyricism. Produced by Rob Slater, renowned for his work with Yard Act and Thank, "This One" delivers a sound that is both raw and refined, recorded in the same practical, intimate settings that birthed Steak Blake’s solo journey.
Blake describes the EP as "an exploration of torment and the mundane ''. Each track delves into a personal outtake, presented with the same observant and captivating style that fans have come to expect.
With "This One," Steak Blake invites listeners to join him on a musical exploration that is as thought-provoking as it is sonically engaging. The EP will be available on all major streaming platforms.
