ABOUT THIS BAND

Stannington are a Newcastle-upon-Tyne | Northumberland based five-piece playing a renewed style of British guitar music.

With a nod to the jangle pop of Sarah Records and Flying Nun, Manchester's early alternative scene and the homegrown North East’s Kitchenware records.

Forming in 2022 and undergoing line ups the following year, Stannington developed a presence around Newcastle’s underground DIY circuit. The band now stands as Lewis Thompson (ex-New Horror, vocals), Mark McGarry (ex-New Horror, guitar), Louis Clark (No Teeth, bass), Charlie Radford (Swine Tax, drums) & Joe Munsey (Beige Banquet, guitar).

The band outlined their early sound in their 4-Track Demo released via Bandcamp, presenting a first hand view of their politics, emotional experience and a sardonic view of the North East.

Moving into 2024 the band has composed an expansive catalogue of material ready for a debut LP release coming this year.

Stannington will embark on their first UK tour from August 5th - 10th ‘2024.
