After a relentless start to the year filled with jam-packed UK shows and a seven-day stint at this year’s SXSW, Bristol post-punk specialists Saloon Dion release debut EP ‘Muckers’, out today (May 19th) via Mucker Records.

Swelling with anthemic guitars and vocal hooks, ‘Muckers’ sees the band channel their onstage energy into a powerful and captivating body of work. Drawing influences from classic hardcore bands such as Fugazi and Title Fight, and 90’s classics like Suede and Blur, the band form a sound loosely defined as post-Brit-pop.

The EP’s lead single ‘Heaven Sent’ (video here) charges at its listener with a groove-laden rhythm section and politically poignant subject matter. The track, dedicated to the singer’s nan who spent some time in hospital following a serious fall, explores the feeling that comes when things are out of our control, and how it can feel like there’s no point going on when everything’s stacked against you.

Closing out the EP is the aptly titled ‘You Want More’ - a well-rounded crowd favourite that never fails to incite chaos amongst live audiences. Inspired by the likes of Primal Scream and The Stone Roses, ‘You Want More’ closes this chapter of Saloon’s career and hearkens of more to come.

With earlier tracks ‘I Don’t Feel’ and ‘Happiness’ garnering support from several key indie press champions (NME, DIY, So Young, The Independent, Brooklyn Vegan, Clash, Gigwise, The New Cue, Rough Trade), and regular radio spins from Jack Saunders (BBC Radio 1), Chris Hawkins and Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music) Saloon Dion are carving a name for themselves as one of the UK’s finest emerging talents.
