Poptones

Poptones is a Copenhagen-based alternative rock band consisting of longtime friends Anders Poulsen, Simon Hiemstra and Mads Bertelsen. The project has been in the making since 2017 - mostly in the recording studio in isolation from the outside world. The defining characteristics of the band Poptones is the close bond between the members. This bond and their common musical understanding have been evolving since their first meeting in the summer of 2011. The band's artistic expression is in dialogue with the 80’s 90’s alternative rock scene and the computer as an instrument to process these references to create something new. This collaboration between what has been, and new technologies creates a sonic timeline that pulls on the history and reformulates these early expressions to fit into today’s society. Bands like Slint, Nirvana, This Heat and Built To Spill have been a great inspiration to the band. In the fall and summer of 2020, they released the singles, Escape and New Moon, followed by their debut EP Hunt in October. Since the release of their EP, Poptones has been in in studio working on their first ever full-length record. Soon the band will release new music.
