Portland, Oregon musician Dewey Mahood began playing in the 1980's Chico, CA punk scene. He originally played bass for hardcore band Empty Offer in 1987, and then after becoming immersed in the sounds of Jimi Hendrix moved to guitar, forming the psychedelic punk band Noman. In 1988 Mahood moved to Seattle, WA and caught seminal shows by Soundgarden and Nirvana. He moved back home, forming the grunge band Good Time Charlie who played with Fugazi and Nirvana, and the free improvisational Ungutta which recorded a few cassette tapes.
After moving to Portland, OR in 1992 Mahood and Larry Crane (Tape Op magazine) formed the post-punk band Elephant Factory, who released a cassette tape and CD. He also played in experimental ensembles Kino-Eye and Peanut Mogul, both of which released several cassette tapes. In 2000 Mahood formed a new band The Cosmos Group to reflect his love of cosmic jazz, this band did a West Coast tour opening for Unwound, and released two CDs.
In 2001 Mahood recorded his first solo album as Plankton Wat, (the name came from two of his musical heroes, Krautrock producer Conny Plank and punk bass player Mike Watt), a CD was released in 2002. He also formed the avant grade trio Scuffle and Dustcough, releasing a 7" and CD. In 2005 he formed the band Eternal Tapestry, releasing many records and extensive touring in US and Europe.
