PEEL are a five-piece from Sydney/Eora that make interdimensional guitar music. Combining elements of shoegaze, post-punk and psychedelia, the band weave fuzz and reverb with luminous synths and sequencers, atmospheric soundscapes, dazed vocals and propulsive rhythms. The band burst onto the scene in late 2020 with their explosive debut ‘Memory Loop’, which immediately grabbed the attention of Australian and international music media and tastemakers with its raw, hypnotic potency (“Not many bands burst onto the scene with such kinetic energy” – Backseat Mafia). PEEL released two more singles across 2021, 'Silver Spring' and 'DYNA', showcasing the band's ability for creating expansive, enveloping songs that pull you in and don't let go. PEEL released their debut self-titled EP via Third Eye Stimuli Records in October 2021. Recorded at Blankspace Studio in Sydney with producer James Christowki, the EP is an exploration of influences ranging from the gritty fuzz-pop of The Jesus and Mary Chain to the percussive grooves of Primal Scream and The Stones Roses, spun through the band’s unique and distorted lens.
PEEL are currently working on their next record, set for release in 2023. The first single from it, titled 'Under the Sun', is out now - a swirling track featuring a hypnotic guitar riff, sparkling synthesizers and brooding, airy vocals that carries you along a propulsive pace, culminating in an epic closing chapter.
