mui zyu [pronounced ”moy joo”] is a Hong Kong British artist based in London. 

mui zyu’s music weaves sugary melodies through haunting sound scapes creating a palette between off-kilter pop and lo-fi film scores. 

Being raised with a cloudy sense of identity as both Chinese and British - her lyrics often conjure the complexities of navigating these parallel worlds, their differences, and escaping to safe spaces (real and imaginary). 

mui zyu takes inspiration from video games, films and her family’s Cantonese pop collection. For fans of Broadcast, Mort Garson, Kelsey Lu, DRINKS, Oneohtrix Point Never and Satoshi Ashikawa.
