ABOUT THIS BAND

Middleman have been kicking away at the edges of London’s DIY punk scene for some time now, making a name for themselves with their arresting take on melodic hardcore. The trio cite Mission of Burma and the Minutemen as influences, but there are other sounds rising to the fore on their debut track Entropy: the quickfire punch of Naked Raygun, the cerebral angularity of Moss Icon… it builds up a mighty head of steam across 90 irresistible seconds before dropping down to a creepy-crawling coda, heightening tension and building anticipation for what further treats might lie in store on their forthcoming cassette EP for Brainrotter Records. The clanging drive of the Wipers is also in here somewhere, as anyone who’s witnessed their frantic live shows can attest, but amid all these classic influences are the beginnings of a band finding a sound that’s very much their own. Ones to watch and no mistake.
