“It’s always been about mood. Writing songs from that gut intuition, rather than technique. And this song was born from my dreams.”
Debut single and video
On November 8th North London project Max Fulcrum & The Win release their first song 'I Could Change'. Rising from a love of disco and electronic music, the new project of Fake Turins songwriter & frontman Dominic Rose has accumulated an impressive roster of live shows in their first few months, including Latitude Festival, Left of the Dial (NL) and Sounds From The Other City.
Alongside the music Max Fulcrum & The Win also release a fully produced showcasing the artful and dream-like quality of the track. Inspired by David Lynch’s liminal spaces, Pina Bausch choreography and the Powell & Pressburger films of the 40’s, the video invites the viewer to form their own relationship to the dancer [Elinor Haskew] and her animalistic soul-searching.
Finishing off their tour for the single this autumn, Max Fulcrum & The Win are releasing a further 3 tracks in the early months of 2024, which will see them announce their first headline tour of the UK.
The track
I Could Change reflects the next evolution of Rose’s songwriting, with an emphasis on emotional catharsis and harmony. Having mixed, produced and mastered it entirely by himself, Rose has this to say about the track:
“It’s always been about mood. Writing songs from that gut intuition, rather than technique. And this song was born from my dreams. It was playing on an old radio as I switched it on. I remembered it so vividly. When I awoke I had to travel halfway across London just to capture it the best I could. This is what emerged from that one session.”
