(29th November) Today rising Irish singer/songwriter Annika Kilkenny shares her tonic for cold grey days and forecasts of inclement weather; new single "Snowflakes In Town" is a future festive classic.
Annika's soothing vocals are smooth like your favourite hot beverage of choice, a real winter warmer as she details different experiences of falling at Christmastime. A standalone release for the holiday season, "Snowflakes In Town" follows an impressive run of singles "Boots For Hiking", "Out In The Garden" and "It's Shaped You" which are set to feature on Annika's upcoming EP due for release in early 2025.
Lovingly crafted with the help of producer Ant Whiting (Lana Del Rey, Matt Maltese) and co-writer Emily Phillips (Florence and the Machine, Matilda Mann, SOAK), this stocking filler adds another layer to Annika's growing songbook.
Talking about the new track Annika says:
"Emily and I set out with the intention of capturing the feeling of falling in more ways than one... We wanted to replicate that nostalgic feel of the music you’d find in a childhood music box, so we wrote this delicate descending motif on the piano to tie in with the concept of the lyrics. Paired with its beautiful production by Ant, I think the track feels like a warm hug."
Having already opened for modern-jazz superstar Laufey and written a song about her hometown for Irish national broadcaster RTE, Annika has been on the road this year supporting artists like Billianne and Aimee Carty, across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
Growth is the through line that is intertwined with everything Annika is doing. Whether she's looking inward, honing her craft as a writer or building out her sonic world to be more expansive, Annika is committed to taking her time when it comes to developing her art and forging a connection with her audience.
